Lyrics

[00:01.16] TWINKLE, TWINKLE, LITTLE EARTH
[00:05.94] Leonard Nimoy
[00:11.01] I've been asked to say a few words to you
[00:13.11] earth-people about the stars. You see, I've been
[00:16.70] there. I came from the planet Vulcan.
[00:20.08] For centuries, you earthlings have been starstruck.
[00:24.41] You have your lucky star, you kiss when you see the
[00:27.75] first star at night, you have movie stars, and you
[00:31.33] wish upon a star.
[00:34.37] Have you considered the possibility that on a star,
[00:37.41] the star-people wish upon an earth?
[00:40.25] For example, "Earthlight, earth bright, first earth I
[00:44.83] see tonight", or "Twinkle, twinkle, little earth, how
[00:50.00] I wonder what you're worth".
[00:52.79] Sound strange? Well, on Sestus Omicron 3 the all-time
[00:57.43] hit song is Earthdust. Also people will sing "Catch a
[01:02.35] falling earth and put it in your pocket".
[01:05.64] And might you not have difficulty accepting the idea
[01:08.13] of a national anthem called The Earth-Spangled Banner?
[01:13.20] You see, it is after all, a question of point of view.
[01:17.68] If I were an emotional creature, I would be shocked by
[01:21.17] your Earth concept of stars falling on Alabama.
[01:25.70] Really, I find that most illogical.
[01:29.83] Now, as to the matter of space sanitation, will you
[01:32.47] take a moment to consider all the littering and debris
[01:35.15] my planet has to contend with?
[01:37.22] Old nose cones, cameras, and even a corned-beef
[01:41.30] sandwich. And those rocket fumes.
[01:44.36] On Vulcan, our leader's wife has started a "Let's Keep
[01:47.19] Space Beautiful Campaign".
[01:51.62] And now I must hurry off to a galactic convention of
[01:55.35] what you earth-people might call "those little green
[01:59.59] people".
[02:01.28] I leave you with the good advice my father gave me
[02:02.79] when I left my home planet of Vulcan: don't let the
[02:06.78] Earth get in your eyes.
