In the Middle East, Israel has detained at least 130 Palestinians in the West Bank city of Hebron on suspicion of aiding the militant organization Hamas. The detainees included relatives of Hamas suicide bombers. Overnight, Israeli forces arrested 20 suspected activists in the city of Nablus. Israel also charged five Israeli Arab leaders with funneling nearly seven billion dollars into Hamas's coffers, make that, seven million dollars not billion. Israeli defense officials say Hamas has agreed in principle to a three-month ceasefire. But Hamas says Israel launched Tuesday's West Bank raids in an attempt to sabotage such a truce. |
