The number of violent anti-foreigner attacks in Germany has dropped in the past few months, but on average there are still more than two such incidents a day, the government said on Saturday. The Ministry of the Interior said 2,285 violent attacks were proven or believed to be carried out by neo-Nazi and other racial rightists in 1992, resulting in 17 deaths. This was an increase of 54% on the number of such attacks in 1991. Still, the report showed that 70 violent acts were carried out by extreme rightists in January, an average of 2.3 such incidents a day, which is down from an average of 6.3 attacks a day over all of 1992. |
