What I thought was mine turned out to be somebody else's |
Property and legal claim and all my high hopes fell |
What I thought belonged to me I had to give away |
To its rightful owner, where it rightfully should stay |
And so again I stand without what I thought was mine |
Gets me everytime |
What I thought was mine was a variety of things |
All meant to bring the joy that most things beautiful will bring |
What I thought I had the right to was taken long ago |
By someone who saw it first and I had to let go |
So again I stand without, I won't admit to crime |
It was not on purpose |
Honestly, I thought that it was mine |
And it gets me everytime |
