Peel away the ragged skin, |
Frail memory slips to grey, |
Continues to drift through restless days. |
Your softly spoken earthly tones, |
Seep through the walls in me, |
Familiar blue, the flooded sea. |
All alone, with all beside, |
Waiting on your warmest light. |
The waning words, the crumbling sun, |
Tomorrow's blur, the threads undone. |
The hazy glow of nervous hands, |
And brightly colored lace, |
A brief candle sway left in it's place. |
The remedy, a fleeting thought, |
In light can't bear to see, |
All of the loss that's left to me. |
