[00:06.76]The next morning the winter sun came through the window
[00:11.08]and the house felt nice and warm again．
[00:14.39]Mr White felt better and he smiled at his wife and son．
[00:20.52]The family sat down to have breakfast
[00:23.56]and they began to talk about the day．
[00:26.91]The monkey's paw was on a little table near the window,
[00:30.92]but nobody looked at it and nobody thought about it．
[00:36.16]'I'm going to the shops this morning,' Mrs White said．
[00:40.77]'I want to get something nice for dinner．
[00:44.29]Are you going to come with me?'
[00:46.58]she asked her husband．
[00:48.62]'No, I'm going to have a quiet morning．
[00:53.04]I'm going to read,' her husband answered．
[00:57.35]'Well, I'm not going to go out this evening,'
[01:01.07]Herbert said,'so we can go to bed early tonight．
[01:05.40]We were very late last night．'
[01:08.04]'And we aren't going to have stories about monkey's paws!'
[01:13.72]Mrs White said． She was angry．
[01:17.39]'Why did we listen to your friend?'
[01:20.04]she asked her husband．
[01:22.30]'A monkey's paw can't give you things!'
[01:26.10]she stopped but the two men did not answer her．
[01:30.38]'Thirty thousand pounds!' she said quietly．
[01:35.25]'We needed that money．'
[01:38.90]Just then Herbert looked at the clock and stood up.
[01:43.09]'I'm going to work,' he said．
[01:45.70]'Perhaps the postman has got the money for you in a letter．
[01:49.62]Remember, I want some of it too!'
[01:53.37]Herbert laughed and his mother laughed too．
[01:56.78]'Don't laugh, son,' Mr White said．
[02:00.75]'Tom Morris is an old friend and he thinks the story is true．
[02:06.17]Perhaps it is．'
[02:08.29]'Well,leave some of the money for me, '
[02:11.57]Herbert laughed again．
[02:14.20]His mother laughed too and she went to the door with him．
[02:17.97]'Goodbye, Mother,' Herbert said happily．
[02:22.02]'Get something nice for dinner this evening at the shops．
[02:25.74]I'm always hungry after a day at work．'
[02:29.09]'I know you are!' Mrs White answered．
[02:34.23]Herbert left the house and walked quickly down the road．
[02:38.85]His mother stood at the door for some time and watched him．
