Last month, China slapped 100% tariffs on imports of Japanese cars, mobile phones and air conditioners. Beijing says these measures were in retaliation for Japan's decision in April to curb imports of Chinese shiitake mushrooms, spring onions and straw for tatami mats. Japan says talks on its import curbs will be separate from discussion of Chinese retaliatory acts.
