[ti:菲律宾参议员的剽窃] [ar:英语听力] [al:BBC新闻词汇] [00:00]Senator Vincente Sotto's speech initially made headlines of very different reasons. [00:06]He was speaking out against a bill promoting free birth control, [00:09]a divisive subject in this strictly Catholic country. [00:14]Sheeding tears, he said he believed that his baby son had died three decades ago [00:19]his wife had been pregnant while taking the contraceptive pill. [00:24]Pictures of his emotional address made the front pages of most newspapers. [00:27]But soon after Mr Sotto gave his speech, a pro-birth control researcher discovered that a large chunk of it, [00:35]the part where the senator gave evidence to back up his claim, [00:39]came from a blog called the Healthy Home Econemist. [00:41]The blogger, an American woman called Sarah Pope, who has no medical training, [00:46]says she doesn't agree with Senator Sotto's position and claims that he twisted her words. [00:51]The senator has responded to the growing online attacks against him by saying he's a victim of cyber-bullying.
