[00:00.00]Omie Wise - Bert Jansch
[00:06.86]Oh listen to my story I'll tell you no lies
[00:13.10]How John Lewes did murder poor little Omie Wise
[00:22.23]He told to her meet him at Adam's Spring
[00:28.91]He promised her money and other fine things
[00:37.79]And fool like she met him at Adam's Spring
[00:44.29]No money did he bring her nor other fine things
[00:53.35]Go with me little Omie and away we will go
[01:00.02]We'll go and get married and nobody will know
[01:08.77]Well she climbed up behind him and away they did go
[01:15.83]But down to the river where deep waters flow
[01:33.52]“ John Lewes John Lewes will you tell to me your mind
[01:40.58]Do you intend to marry me or leave me behind ”
[01:46.70]“ Little Omie little Omie I'll tell to you my mind
[01:54.64]My mind is to drown you and leave you behind ”
[02:00.21]“ Have mercy on my baby and spare me my life
[02:09.83]I'll go home as a beggar and never be your wife”
[02:34.77]He hugged her and kissed her and turned her around
[02:41.45]And pushed her in deep water where he knew that she would drown
[02:49.89]Then he got up on his pony and away he did ride
[02:56.51]As the screams of little Omie went down by his side
[03:05.89]' Twas on a Thursday morning the rain was a-pouring down
[03:12.39]When the people searched for Omie but she could not be found
[03:31.70]Two boys went a-fishing one fine sunny day
[03:38.51]And saw little Omie's body go floating away
[03:50.01]They threw their nets around her and drew her to the bank
[03:56.39]Her clothes all wet and muddy they laid her on a plank
[04:05.26]Then sent for John Lewes to come to that place
[04:12.60]And brought her out before him that he might see her face
[04:20.84]Well he made no confession but they carried him to jail
[04:27.66]No friends nor relations would come for his bail
