One night I sailed my boat alone Across the dark blue sea The moon was cold with a silver shine And woke a fear in me A mighty wave of velvet black Rose before my eyes And as my boat was swallowed whole It silenced all my cries By the flaming light of dawn On an island born of stone I woke trembling on the shore And I was all alone My wails were drowned in the void No sounds were meant to be Then something moved in the waters depth A wave that came for me A wave of blue, a wave of white Was towering over the shore And on the island was nowhere to hide And I would run no more And so I stood and faced the wave Waiting for it to come Between the past and future time I thought my life was done The wave then shattered into mist Like a veil suddenly torn A whisper of warmth to a tired heart And a different tune was born
