I used to go and get a lift over there
After I finished school
And I used to meet a lot of her patients
And the families of the patients
While I was waiting for her to finish her shift
And I wrote this song about a guy
Who was on the wards that my mom was working on
And he was always so angry and frustrated
That he was in this home
He didn't understand why my mom
And the other nurses were trying to look after
Try to look after him I didn't understand why
He couldn't do the basic things for himself or
Why he was even there in the first place
And it was pretty horrible to see
And I wrote this song about it

I cried for about a month making it
Make you feel any better
But this is called 'close to home'
